Gesha Village - Lot 149 - Natural Gesha 1931 (Ethiopia)
The breathtaking landscapes of the western reaches of Ethiopia, is home to Gesha Village Coffee Estate. The 471-hectare coffee farm was built from the ground up by built by Rachel Samuel, Adam Overton and Willem Boot over the last eleven years and is a place that is full of the stunning natural beauty of an ancient, sprawling forest.
This Lot 149 is a Gesha 1931 varietal. Named for the year it was first formally collected by a British botanist from the Gesha village. It is part of their Rarities series and was processed as a Natural. A one-step operation where the beans are dried inside the whole coffee fruit until it reaches a moisture of 11%.
The coffee presents what many have come to know and love about the Gesha/Geisha varietal. Big expressive florals, with the natural processing bringing sweet fruit like notes like green grape and a hibiscus-like acidity as it cools, with a gentle green-tea like mouthfeel.
