Located in Colombia’s Valle del Cauca department, Finca Potosí is the original farm where the Café Granja La Esperanza story began in 1945. The estate spans elevations of approximately 1400 - 2000 masl, providing varied growing conditions across its coffee-growing areas. It was here that Juan Antonio Herrera introduced Yellow Bourbon, Red Bourbon and Caturra alongside the existing Typica trees, establishing the spirit of experimentation that continues to define the family’s approach to coffee production today
Today, Potosí remains central to the farm’s pursuit of distinctive, high-quality coffees. The team cultivates a wide range of varieties, including Sidra, CGLE-17 and other cultivars, while exploring washed, honey, natural and experimental processing methods. Through careful cultivation, selective harvesting and continued refinement of post-harvest techniques, the farm seeks to reveal the individual character of each lot. Potosí represents both the heritage of Café Granja La Esperanza and its ongoing ambition to push the boundaries of Colombian specialty coffee.
This lot was processed as a Washed, a stunningly clean cup with notes of Red Apple, White Peach, Mandarin, and a bergamot-like florality. It has an intense aroma, with a brown sugar type sweetness.
